2021 CSCC Provisional Calendar

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

We are excited to reveal to you our 2021 Calendar. As always, we try to blend your favourites, along with a format we return to every few years, together with something completely new. Let's talk you through it:

In the absence of the pre-season shows, the CSCC is planning an exclusive event to showcase and promote the club to potential new members, as well as to say thank you to our existing members. A full reveal will happen in the next few weeks, for now please reserve Tuesday 16th February in your diaries.

As has become tradition, we start the season by heading East, with a CSCC test day on Wednesday 17th March, followed ten days later by a full weekend of racing, on the 3 miles Snetterton 300 circuit (27th/28th March).

A single day at Oulton Park on the International layout takes place just a fortnight later, on Saturday 10th April. This track is regularly in driver's top 3 favourites.

Our first ever visit to Knockhill in Scotland comes next, on the 1st and 2nd May. Now before you think 'it's too far away' please read on! This is a special event, with the following included in your race entry fee: 1. Qualifying and a pit stop race taking place in the normal, clockwise direction on Saturday.

2. Dinner provided on Saturday evening at the circuit.

3. Qualifying and a pit stop race in the reverse, anti-clockwise direction on Sunday.

The circuit will put on a test day that includes half a day on each circuit configuration on the Friday (booked and paid through the circuit), plus it's worth knowing that Monday is a Bank Holiday, perhaps useful for those needing to work on Tuesday? If, like us, you have been saying for years 'I really must visit Scotland' and are nervous of travelling overseas for a spring break, then make 2021 the year you make the drive North (apologies to our Scottish/Norwegian members who may travel from other points of the compass). I (David) had the pleasure of taking part in an event here in the early Autumn and it was superb; the friendliness of the locals, scenery and challenge of the circuit made the extra hours travelling up well worth it. A few laps at the end of the day with the circuit manager showed me that driving Knockhill in reverse direction completely changes the track. It helps balance out your tyre wear too! We believe Knockhill is the only FIA grade track to be permitted to run races in both directions and with the loss of Rockingham is now our only anti-clockwise track.

I extended my trip to take in the Lochs and Highlands (fantastic scenery is never far away); you can easily do the same to make this a short break, as the circuit team have given permission for CSCC members to leave trailers and race cars at the track, over the following week. The month of May was chosen carefully, it is actually one of Scotland's driest months and should you wish to explore, there are few Midges to worry about!

May 29th and 30th sees all eleven CSCC series together at Donington Park, on the most popular, flowing National layout. Being a Bank Holiday weekend you get to spend Monday with the family (or more tinkering with the car).

Cadwell Park returns for the first time since 2016, this time with more hard standing in the paddock and a new administration building. What hasn't altered, is the challenge and elevation changes of this sinuous ribbon of tarmac. This is not just a circuit for bikes and small cars. If you haven't driven here you should, whatever you race, on Saturday 12th June.

The CSCC have raced at every Summer Classic at Spa Francorchamps that has taken place, since the event first began. Much loved and missed by you, we have again secured multiple grids from 24th to 27th June and will once again be promoting and taking entries for the Spa 3 Hours race.

Perhaps the friendliest circuit we visit, Thruxton, is once again on our calendar on Saturday 24th July. Every year we go, you tell us how much the place scares you, but in a good way! It is very fast, but wide too and with acres of run off in many places. With very limited dates available to race here, we are very proud to offer this driver's circuit to you each season.

A summer's weekend at Brands Hatch, does life get much better? A full weekend of racing on August 28th/29th packs all eleven CSCC series into one place. Yes it's 'just' the Indy, but it's a special place, with large numbers of cars to compete against. A Bank Holiday Monday follows.

Night Racing. It's amazing how a bit of darkness changes the atmosphere and spices things up. Typically we have to wait until November, when the clocks go back, but as a downside it's usually cold and wet. Not this time, we are offering each driver a daytime race on Saturday 25th September at Anglesey International, an optional, late night race, dinner at the circuit and then a second daytime race, on Sunday 26th, getting you away in good time (mid afternoon at the latest). We are officially in British Summertime, so it should be mild! Similar to visiting Scotland, this is a lovely place for a Staycation and well worth the effort to get here.

To finish the season on Sunday 24th October, we offer you 'the big one', Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. Back in 2015, in the year we launched our New Millennium series, we had a full 58 car grid (shared with Modern Classics). 2021 is the first time we have been able to secure the venue for the whole club. As well as it being many F1 driver's favourite track, it's also the UK's longest, at 3.67 miles. Whilst Silverstone does have some long straights, it also has a variety of corners, giving a fantastic ebb and flow to the racing, whether you have 1 or 7 litres under the bonnet!

If your favourite track isn't among those on the 2021 calendar, fear not, there is a chance it will be in 2022, as we always change our offerings to keep you interested.

In addition, we are working to secure a Brands Hatch GP race for the Co-ordsport Tin Tops as well as 'out rounds' for the Special Saloons and Modsports and Mintex Classic K Series. More on this to follow over the coming month. We aim to tell you which specific day and venue each series will race at in December, at which time we will open registrations for the new season. Marshals and Officials, we will contact you shortly to invite you to volunteer with us, we'd love to welcome you. For now, please add these dates to your 2021 diaries, but please be aware that dates can change at any time, should a circuit wish us to do so.

We will keep the calendar updated here: https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/race-calendar.
