CSCC at Zolder - More Details

Our much anticipated, first ever trip to Zolder, Belgium is approaching.

We intend to open entries on Wednesday 2nd April, at 14:00. The price will be £745. Follow in the footsteps of the last F1 winner here, back in 1984, Michele Alboreto, for Ferrari.

Whilst provisional, there has been a date change, in our favour, as we are no longer scheduled to race on the Sunday. Set up, scrutineering and briefing times are tbc, but are from the afternoon, on Thursday 10th July. Our qualifying and three, rolling-start races take place on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th July.

This is the website of the event organiser: https://www.supercarchallenge.nl/nl The event will feature thousands of spectators, with modern and classic cars racing, plus a large amount of supercars on display.

Ride onboard in this BMW E36 325i.

What mandatory equipment do I need?

As per UK regulations, plus:

  • FIA window net (drivers side) attached to the cage, OR wrist restraints for open cars or those without a full cage - this is a change from what we are used to at Spa. https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/253_2025_wmsc_2025.02.26_ok.pdf (11.2)

  • FIA padding on the roll cage where your head might theoretically contact a bar in the event of an accident.

  • All fireproof clothing, including head to toe underwear, must have an FIA hologram. The only exception are fireproof socks, which do need to be FIA approved, but don't need a hologram.

  • Your helmet and FHR posts, must be an in-date FIA standard (not 'just' Snell).

  • A Motorsport UK 'Race National' licence, as a minimum. To upgrade from a 'Race Club' you require six 'signatures'/race results and the extra licence fee, paid to Motorsport UK.

  • An in-date FIA seat, for all cars, except if using the original seats in period-defined FIA Appendix K cars.

  • If you have an FIA bag/fuel tank, it must be in date. If your car has a custom made fuel tank it must be foam-filled. A standard, production fuel tank is ok and does not require foam filling.

  • Any Motorsport UK Post-Brexit extensions DO NOT Apply at Spa, such as seatbelt expiry dates. The actual expiry date printed on your belts applies.

Can I have 1, 2 or 3 drivers/cars?

You can take part in all three races as a single driver, or two drivers may split the races between them, provided both have qualified. If a two driver/car team, race 1 must be done by the first driver, race 2 by the second driver. Race 3 has a pit stop, allowing both drivers to share, if desired. A 2 car team is allowed, with only 1 car allowed on track at a time. 3 drivers are not permitted.

Do I need a Carnet to get my car across the channel?

Please see our Spa guide, the advice contained within, about getting your race car overseas, is unchanged from last season: https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/post/racing-at-spa-in-2024-guide-1

Classes, awards and courtesy.

You will be placed into classes as per the Verum Builders Open Series regulations: https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/open-series. The grid will have a mixture of classic and modern cars, all running on Motorsport UK treaded tyres. As long as drivers appreciate this varied mix, show respect and use their mirrors, then everyone will enjoy the experience of racing on a former F1 circuit. The grid capacity is 47 cars, CSCC members do need to take part in two races with us this season, to show support.

Noise

There is no noise limit, a rare treat for this usually silenced circuit!

'Testing'

There is no testing at or before this event, however, a quick online search shows this company appears to have a strictly silenced, sessioned track day on Wednesday 9th July: https://skylimit.events/events/part/1

Paul Golding, from Lotus On Track has helpfully passed on his recent experiences of the circuit. Paul advises that the sessions linked to above should be for quiet, road silenced cars only, as the circuit now has four, very sensitive noise meters.

Perhaps one to drive your unmodified tow vehicle around sensibly, during one session, purely to familiarise yourself with the place?

Damage liability Zolder has a policy of reserving the right to pass on the cost of circuit damage to the organiser. Whilst this is not a given, it could happen, so drivers must be aware that barrier or track surface damage (for example) could result in a cost being passed to the CSCC and in turn the specific driver or drivers responsible. Those of you who read our UK final instructions will know that this has been included for our UK rounds for many years now. To date, the club has only been charged once in the UK.

Paddock and passes There are electric hook ups in the paddock, along with water. Trailers must be detached and moved to a specific location. Each race car receives the following, more details on this nearer the time: 6 pit lane/4 paddock access (mechanic) 'Team' 2 VIP parking (personal cars) 1 working vehicle pass

Timing Your Mylaps/AMB transponder will work here.
