Dear Club Members,

After 22 years, having co-founded the club, I have now retired from the club as Treasurer and Committee member. There is still so much I want to do in life and having reached my 75th birthday and wound up the accounts for the previous year, it was the ideal time to go. I leave the Club on very good terms, in a sound financial position with substantial reserves and with the knowledge that both Hugo and David who are passionate about the club will continue to look after all of you.

Many of you will also know that I have been closely involved with Adams & Page, for over 40 years in fact. After a good deal of thought and succession planning, I have also now resigned from Adams & Page. Stuart Adams, the Grandson of the founder has now taken over, he has in fact been there for the past 25 years, and will continue to provide Club members with the best service possible. The rest of the Adams & Page team remain in place, so the same familiar faces will be there to offer trackside tyre support at CSCC events.

Finally, I would like to say that the club is blessed with a really strong committee of members who work constantly to try and improve everyone's enjoyment of racing with the club. They have all been great to work with.

Many Thanks

Richard Wos

Richard Wos has been the driving force behind the CSCC since it’s inception in 2001. Many members may know him from supplying tyres with our tyre supplier Adams & Page but not his pivotal role in the success of the CSCC.

He originally set up the club, wanting to do something different and most importantly better, than any of the other clubs available at the time. He has always brought his shrewd business acumen to bear over the challenges that the club has been faced with over the years.

There have been many a time when his sage advice has helped us to make the correct decision for the club.

Constantly coming up with new and fresh ideas, though sometimes initially a little off the wall at times, but he would modify them (with a little persuasion) until they worked.

He has been the club’s Treasurer for many years and ensured that we currently have one of the largest surpluses amongst the national clubs.

This has also enabled us to make bold decisions for the good of the members, that are possibly not obviously financially the right thing to do, but are the right thing for the members.

He has always insisted that committee members and officials are not out of pocket for the volunteer work they do, however, I have never known Richard EVER put in an expense claim.

He has looked after the club tirelessly for the sheer joy of it.

Personally, I shall miss our almost daily ‘discussions’ terribly, but wish him a much more relaxed life to enjoy with Auriol and his family. Thank you Richard.

Hugo Holder, Director

Time is not something we can fight indefinitely, and we have been lucky to keep Richard as part of the club management for so many years. Between Directors, Treasurer and Chairman, we have had a number of discussions over the years about needing a plan of succession, for when retirement comes.

Club motorsport owes Richard a great deal, in turn, it actually saved his life. If you have to have a heart attack, then doing so at a race meeting is about the best place it could happen! Back in 2015, when Richard took a year out from the committee, we were able to present our highest honour to him, the Members Trophy aka Spirit Of The Club. Richard is also an honorary lifetime member of the club, both accolades richly deserved.

Richard has helped me personally on many occasions, with advice, introductions, even helping me repair my rusty, self-funded RX-8 Trophy car, never asking for, or expecting anything in return. He was there at my job interview back in 2012 and supported my Directorship in 2014. We have shared plenty of laughs and banter, the pre-Covid trips to Cologne Motorsport show come to mind, as well as his delight for me when I announced I’d be a father.

I will personally miss Richard, I have learnt so much from him, constantly working through different ideas and challenges together. I can only echo everything that Hugo has said, Richard deserves more time with his family, although I can’t see him ever being too far away from cars and motorsport.

David Smitheram, Director

It has been a pleasure, privilege, and a very enlightening experience to work alongside Richard. Not only a work colleague who has now become a friend, the hundreds (if not thousands!) of hours spent on deciding on venue versus budget have been a steep (vertical) learning curve, from which I’ve learned so much.

I’ve worked alongside several race car club treasurers, but none who have been so committed to club success, whilst protecting the club finances.

Enjoy your retirement my friend.

Deputy Chairman and Adams & Page Swinging 60s driver representative, Malcolm Johnson has been working closely with us for some months now, assisting in the interim Treasurer role, before Richard's replacement is discussed at the next committee meeting in mid-April.
